Every delegate bus has an armed policeman on board. This is Todd and he was charged with protecting our red 21 bus on the 25 minute ride from the Xcel Center back to our hotel. Today one of Todds buses was pelted with rocks from the anarchist/anti-war cowards.After our bus left the convention center the driver asked Todd for his route. Even the driver does not know the route he will be driving. Todd has a book he consulted which contained various routes through the city.
On our way to the Excel Center we took a major freeway over the Mississippi River from Minneapolis to St. Paul. However, on our way back we took a zig zag route through back streets.
While I am very thankful for the excellent protection we are receiving, it is a bit disturbing to see what lengths they must go to for our safety.
